Did you know laughter changes your physiology?

When we genuinely laugh, cortisol drops, breathing opens up, and our whole nervous system gets a moment to exhale. Our bodies literally become lighter.

Laughter was my lifeline.

Storms raging outside, our home leaking from every crevice, pressure started to build. Can't work because roads are caving in, the dogs food running low, bills stacking. My chest was tightening and stress scrambled my brain.

How can I see any light in this immense darkness shrouding everything I love?

There HAD to be a way to release it all.

What I found is juxtaposing doom-and-gloom with a giggle is the fastest way to keep heaviness from taking root.

Humor doesn't make the hard stuff disappear. It just stops the apocalypse of apathy from gripping our good feelings. Things stop feeling so scary and permanent.

I had to literally lighten the load to experience lightness of being.

In the middle of chaos, finding clarity can be hard. The simplest ways are often the most difficult to process.

Just giving myself permission to laugh without immediately returning to serious mode.

Small things. Real things. They worked.

Petting Bailey and Kalea: there is genuinely nothing a dog can't fix with the right amount of unconditional love.

Watching Last One Laughing and letting myself actually fall apart at it.

Livestreaming and creating inside jokes with you and the Crew.

Challenge yourself to experiment. Schedule one laugh break. Put it in your day like it matters, because it does. A show, a playlist, a friend who always delivers. Ten minutes where the only job is to find something that cracks you up and let it actually land.

You don't have to wait until things feel light to laugh. Laughter is how you get there.
