❓What is "NORMAL" anyway?

Stellar Sunday Reader!

Right now, my van is broken down.

I wake up with the sunrise in my face, watch the sky change colors, and share a tiny space with my mom and our two dogs here in Hawaiʻi.

It’s messy. It’s close. It feels alive.

The other day, I delivered goods to a 10,000‑square‑foot property up a steep hill.

Three houses squeezed onto one lot with a tiny driveway.

It looked impressive—like the kind of place you post on Instagram—but the energy felt packed and tense.

On the standard “normal adult life” checklist, they win:

  • Multiple houses
  • Property
  • Driveway

From the outside, my broken‑down van looks like proof I’m behind.

From the inside of my actual life, it feels like proof I’m free.

Same island.
Same sunrise.
Completely different operating systems.

One is “look impressive at all costs.”

The other is “feel alive in my body, even if it looks weird on paper.”

Here’s the question: which OS are you running?

How “normal” became your operating system

Most of us never sat down and chose our version of “normal.”

It got installed quietly—by family, culture, school, social media, survival.

“Normal” is just a set of rules about what a “successful” adult life should look like:
The job.
The income.
The schedule.
The house.
The way you’re supposed to feel about all of it.

The problem?
That default OS doesn’t ask what your nervous system actually needs, what your values are, or what makes you feel grounded and alive.

If your life looks fine but feels tight, draining, or slightly fake… it’s not that you are malfunctioning.

You’re just running an operating system that was never written for your exact mind, heart, and path.

Your sensitivity isn’t the bug, it’s the debugger

If you’re still reading this, you’re probably the sensitive one.

You pick up tension in a room.

You notice when something’s off even when nothing looks wrong.

You crave more meaning than your calendar realistically allows.

In a world that worships “normal”—steady, productive, not too emotional—that sensitivity gets labeled “too much.”

Your sensitivity is not the problem.

It’s your built‑in lie detector.

It’s the part of you that keeps whispering, “This version of success doesn’t feel right in my body,” even when everyone else is clapping for you.

Instead of asking, “Why am I like this?”, try asking, “What is this sensitivity here to show me about the OS I’m running?”

A 10‑minute OS checkup

Let’s run a tiny diagnostic on your operating system. Grab a notebook and take 10 minutes:

  1. Name the OS you’re currently running.
Write down the title, income, lifestyle, house, relationship, follower count—whatever you secretly use to decide if you’re “on track.”
  2. Name the OS your body actually relaxes around.
Maybe it’s slower mornings, work you don’t hate, a smaller place that feels cozy, people you can be real with, fewer obligations.
  3. Compare the code.
Where do these two versions completely disagree? Circle the parts that feel the most off in your actual day‑to‑day.
  4. Write one new line of code and act on it this week.
Send one email. Say no to one thing. Tell one person the truth. Browse one listing in a place that actually excites you.

Then give your own normal a name in one sentence.

For example:
“My normal is small spaces, slow mornings, honest conversations, and work that actually means something to me.”

That one sentence is the first line of your new operating system.

Why I’m building 1StellarOS (and how to stay close)

You’re not here to pass a “normal” test. You’re here to build a life that feels real in your body.

If your days look like you’ve made it but feel off, you haven’t failed. You’ve just outgrown the default OS that got installed without your consent.

That’s why I’m building 1StellarOS—a simple, gamified operating system to help sensitive, “not normal” humans rise above chaos into calm, clarity, and connection, and actually live from the version of “making it” their body can breathe in.

Stay up to date as 1StellarOS comes to life, give feedback, and get early access to the tools and practices as they drop when you become a YouTube channel member.

Inside, you’ll be closer to the build‑out than anyone else as we:

  • Talk honestly about work, money, mental health, spirituality, and meaning.
  • Share our “off‑script” lives without having to pretend we’re fine.
  • Test and refine the exact rituals, check‑ins, and systems that will live inside 1StellarOS.

You don’t have to burn your whole life down overnight.

You also don’t have to keep running an OS that makes you feel like a stranger in your own story.

If you’re ready to help shape—and eventually use—the operating system for your own version of “making it,” tap “Join” on the channel and come build 1StellarOS with us from the inside.

Stay Stellar ⭐️
